ChatGPT Sites is not available to every ChatGPT account at the same time. OpenAI launched it as a public beta for eligible paid plans, with phased plan access, regional exclusions, and workspace controls that can change what an individual user sees.
Current availability
OpenAI’s launch documentation lists Pro, Pro Lite, Enterprise, and Edu as the first supported plans. Plus and Business access is rolling out. Free and Go are not included in the initial public beta.
| Account or location | Current launch status |
|---|---|
| Pro | Included in the initial rollout |
| Pro Lite | Included in the initial rollout |
| Enterprise | Included, subject to administrator controls |
| Edu | Included, subject to workspace controls |
| Plus | Rolling out |
| Business | Rolling out |
| Free | Not included in the initial beta |
| Go | Not included in the initial beta |
| EEA, Switzerland, and UK | Not available at launch |
“Rolling out” means two people on the same plan may receive access at different times. It is not a promise that the feature will appear on a specific day.
How to check your account
Open ChatGPT on the web or the desktop app and look in Work/Codex for the Sites option. You can also try a clear request that includes the word “website” or references @Sites.
If the option is missing, check these points in order:
- Confirm the plan shown in your ChatGPT billing or workspace settings.
- Confirm that your account is not in a launch-excluded region.
- If it is a managed workspace, ask whether Sites and public publishing are enabled.
- Update the desktop app or try ChatGPT on the web.
- Check OpenAI’s current help article for rollout changes.
Repeatedly refreshing or changing browsers will not bypass an account or regional rollout restriction.
Workspace access is separate from plan access
Having an eligible Enterprise, Edu, or Business account does not guarantee that every sharing option is enabled. Workspace administrators can control access and public publishing. OpenAI says public publishing is disabled by default for Enterprise.
A workspace can also restrict a site to invited users or members of the organization. If a colleague can build a site but an external visitor cannot open the link, check the project’s sharing settings and the workspace policy before rebuilding it.
Custom-domain availability is another separate control. OpenAI says Enterprise custom domains are not available at launch even though Enterprise accounts can use Sites.
Regional availability
The initial public beta is unavailable in the European Economic Area, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. The exclusion is based on account availability for the feature, not the language used in a prompt.
Do not use a location workaround to make a production project depend on unsupported access. A future expansion may change the list, but OpenAI has not provided a guaranteed date for every excluded region.
What plan access includes
Sites access means you can create and publish projects within the limits of your plan and workspace. It does not mean unlimited traffic, storage, or project creation. OpenAI documents plan-based usage limits and says reaching them can prevent new projects or affect high-usage public availability.
Before launching an important project, read ChatGPT Sites limits, custom domains, and privacy and test the public URL outside your signed-in session.
If Sites is available but publishing is not
A project can be editable while a public publishing option is unavailable. Common causes include workspace policy, an account-level rollout difference, or a sharing option that has not been enabled by an administrator.
Ask the administrator for the specific capability you need: creating a site, sharing inside the workspace, publishing to anyone with the link, or attaching a custom domain. These are not interchangeable settings.
For the creation workflow itself, see how to build and publish with ChatGPT Sites.
Official source and update note
Plan, region, and workspace details come from OpenAI’s ChatGPT Sites help article. The feature is in public beta, so that page and the controls visible in your account take priority over this summary.
